Portsmouth’s Common Fence Point Workshop

On April 6th, our Resilience Team worked with Portsmouth’s Common Fence Point (CFP) to identify their concerns related to coastal hazards and resilience. Using the Community Resilience Building tool ( https://www.communityresiliencebuilding.com/), this first of its kind pilot in Rhode Island, was met with extreme enthusiasm by the community and it’s residents.  They shared their neighborhood concerns related to flooded roads and tides rising into their ball fields, as well as their valued assets such as the community center and neighborhood leaders. Part 2 of this effort will be focused on actions that the neighborhood can take to make themselves more resilient to natural hazards and changing climate.

Stay tuned for more information about the outcome of this event. Special thanks to the CFP community members as well as as the VFW that accommodated the event.
