The goal of the Bridging the LME Governance Gap workshop was to bring together senior level officials from selected LMEs to discuss and refine concepts and tools on governance and socio-economics that will lead to sustained implementation of LME programs after funding from the GEF ends. Twenty one participants from nine LMEs attended a workshop at the University of Rhode Island in the spring of 2006 to share experiences, develop ideas and design improved governance processes and self-financing mechanisms for their respective LME projects.
