The EcoCostas-CRC network gathered, organized and systematically disseminated information to improve the design, planning and implementation of integrated coastal management programs. In the past, it was difficult to compile and distribute Spanish language materials. For example, a study on applying the lessons learned from the important experiences of the PROARCA Costas project carried out in Central America was not distributed to practitioners outside the region. The EcoCostas-CRC network addressed such communications gaps. The information system developed through the network and in the meetings and site visits was aimed squarely at breaking down this isolation between projects and cross-project learning.
