Building Capacity for Coastal Adaptation in the Coral Triangle Region

The CRC supported the six countries in the Coral Triangle (Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, The Solomons and Eastern Timor) by helping them build their capacity to respond to climate change. To achieve this goal, CRC coached alumni from the Coral Triangle countries who attended CRC’s 3-week course on coastal adaptation. Each of the alumnus developed their his or her own climate initiatives. CRC also developed a coastal adaptation short course that was delivered with the University of the Philippines Marine Science Institute. These activities were made possible through a subcontract from the US Coral Triangle Initiative Support Program based out of the USAID Asia Regional Office.

The Coral Triangle Initiative (CTI) is a multilateral partnership of six countries working together to sustain extraordinary marine and coastal resources by addressing crucial issues such as food security, climate change and marine biodiversity.
