Training and Curriculum Development for Small/Medium Shrimp Producers

Best Management Practices for shrimp production in Latin America — covering major sector activities from farm to table — were the basis of training materials used in training-of-trainers courses throughout the region. Developing a well-trained cadre of extension professionals had a multiplicative effect through out the region. The training materials were also designed for use by extensionists to train small and medium shrimp farmers upon return to their institutions. In addition to training technical personnel and shrimp producers, project personnel — in conjunction with in-country collaborators such as trainees in the training courses and industry associations — provided direct extension services and technical assistance to farmers.
