Coastal Resources Management Project

Long-term Partnerships with Selected Nations

Long-term partnerships with selected nations were the centerpiece of both phases of the Coastal Resources Management Project (CRMP). In Phase I of the CRMP, the Coastal Resources Center worked with three nations — Ecuador, Sri Lanka and Thailand — to establish integrated coastal management (ICM) programs at the national scale.

In Phase II of the CRMP, the Center supported field programs in Indonesia, Mexico, Tanzania and Kenya. All field programs have used a “two-track” approach — working simultaneously to integrate initiatives at the community level with the formulation and strengthening of policies at the national level.
