HIV/AIDS, Gender and Population Dimensions of Tanzania Coastal Conservation

Documenting, analyzing, and communicating experience and lessons learned

A communications strategy was designed to disseminate experience, lessons learned and policy implications. It was distinct from the site-level educational activities. The strategy started with determining the key target audiences at the national, regional and international level and included the following events and products:

  • A special seminar and meeting of the Tanzania national ICM steering committee
  • Special issues or features in Pwani Yetu, a Kiswahili newsletter published quarterly
  • Newspaper and radio programs linked to the Coastal Environmental Awards Scheme (CEAS) celebrations
  • Press briefings and materials developed for journalists
  • Presentations at regional and international ICM, health and population conferences and meetings
  • Briefings and materials developed for local decision makers
