Conserving Critical Coastal Ecosystems in Mexico

Tourism Development Guidelines

This activity within the Coastal Resources Center’s Mexico project focused on developing Guidelines for Low-Impact Tourism Development in Quintana Roo. These were designed to guide coastal stakeholders during the process of planning new developments in the coastal zone. The handbook was released in both Spanish and English. The Guidelines provide a tool that incorporates knowledge of coastal processes with the application of best management practices for beaches, lagoons, vegetation, energy, solid waste, and wastewater to planning and infrastructure projects.
