This activity aims to strengthen local Government of Ghana partner organizational capacity to effectively implement sustainable fisheries initiatives, and to improve the quality and sustainability of services those organizations provide to their constituencies. Baseline organizational capacity assessments have been conducted for nine participating government and research university units as well as eight civil society organizations, five of whom are SFMP implementing partners.

Based on the findings and recommendations of these assessments and the work planning process with partners, capacity development activities for these units have been planned.  Significant support is being provided in: organizational development, staff development through training opportunities, and material support (equipment and capital).
