CRC is working with the Town of North Kingstown, R.I., on a transportation and infrastructure-based climate change adaptation planning project. The project team has developed a series of maps that identify the natural and physical assets most vulnerable to climate change impacts, such as marked sea level rise and increasing storminess. To protect these assets, the team is working to incorporate the findings in the community comprehensive plan and other key planning documents, policies and practices. The project is intended to serve as a model for other towns that are vulnerable to climate change impacts. This collaboration was made possible by a challenge grant from the Rhode Island Statewide Planning Program.
