CRC and its partners design, execute and evaluate long-term, participatory coastal governance programs. This is the heart of our work. CRC carries this out in wealthy, politically stable countries such as the United States and European Union and in countries where poverty and social unrest often dominate, such as Latin America, the Pacific Islands, Southeast Asia and East Africa. We work with government, business, non-governmental organizations, universities, and private partners. Together we engage in a process of active learning—critical thinking, adaptation, and renewal. As programs take root and prosper, CRC works to link the initiatives carried out in different places. This creates a network of well-documented and accessible examples of how coastal stewardship is being made operational in a wide diversity of contexts.
