Partnering with SUCCESS

Team Capabilities | Current Partners | Volunteers

Coastal ecosystems contain some of the planet’s most biologically productive habitat, supporting a disproportional amount of economic output per unit of area, through fisheries and other productive activities. Yet, these rich ecosystems are under accelerated threat.  Integrated coastal management (ICM) takes a long-term view to addressing many of the root causes behind these threats, including through its ICM-based Sustainable Coastal Communities and Ecosystems (SUCCESS) Program funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The four components of SUCCESS are:

Combined, these create a coherent, mutually re-enforcing set of strategies, which ensure that natural resources governance is connected to supporting actions and policies at the provincial, national and regional scales. SUCCESS partners with local USAID Missions and local, regional, national and global public and private sector organizations to define, refine, and evaluate the work to be done—ensuring it is appropriate to the needs and context of each place.

We encourage inquires about partnering with SUCCESS. For additional information, contact success@crc.uri.edu.

Volunteers

Can I volunteer for SUCCESS and how?

International volunteer assignments are geared toward working professionals with at least five years of experience and who are willing to spend several weeks on an overseas assignment in a developing country. In 2005, the Coastal Resources Center's International Volunteer Program was highlighted in the annual Volunteers for Prosperity report to the White House.

How can I support SUCCESS  volunteers

If you are unable to volunteer yourself, but are interested in supporting the work of one of our international program volunteers going to Tanzania, the Volunteers for Prosperity program has partnered with Global Giving. Global Giving has set up a secure online donation site for SUCCESS volunteers. You can read more about the project at their site and if you wish, contribute to fund a volunteer.
